Banks Peninsula organic farmer and Eco-celebrity David de Rothschild has decided to show the world what to do with its discarded plastic bottles. For his new project, the Plastiki Expedition, the adventurous environmentalist plans to build a 20 metre boat made entirely of recycled materials and then sail it across the Pacific Ocean.
The Plastiki Expedition will hopefully carry our Dave from San Francisco to Australia over the course of four months. The voyage will encounter a number of environmentally sensitive regions, including the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, a well-known region of the ocean that has accumulated an expanse of garbage about twice the size of Texas.
True to its name, the Plastiki will be crafted almost entirely from reclaimed plastic bottles, and will be capable of generating it’s own energy and fresh water, and treating all of its waste. And of course, once the trip is finished, the boat can simply be recycled.

When you learn the true history of the Rothschild family/bloodline, you'll be hating yourself for calling him a 'local lad'.
Had one need of further confirmation of the old adage that such matters tend to take on a more rose tinted aspect from the stable rather than the tower, then your comment will adequately suffice. However, as a dinosaurial relic of a family, who have owned as far as the eye can see from their hill top tower for more than twelve centuries (and still do), this Editor is not unacquainted with the Rothschilds or their distinguished heritage. Unlike our "local lad," we're not enamoured of attention seeking, but do continue to own our bank. Formerly our state treasury, it is the oldest of its kind in the land of the Rothschild's origin.
I don't know if this Rothschild has the same predatory type of instinct about him, as his family is known for, but I do know a genuine smile when I see one. Perhaps I am foolish, but this man has a kindness inside of him. Perhaps only for "his own" but he has it and should perhaps be judged on HIS actions alone, NOT those of his Forefathers whom he has no control over? Just a thought.
