Fascinating once again!
Do you know if the Thomas GEE mentioned is related to Walter GEE the Venetian Blind maker of Christchurch? Walter married Ruth COSTER in 1856 at St Paul's Papanui. He was also noted as confectioner.
This Thomas could also be the son of Thomas Major GEE from Middlesex, England, Schoolmaster and his wife Rebecca aged 33 and who arrived in New Zealand aboard the 'Zealandia' on 14/11/1859 aged 7 along with his sister Rebecca Jane aged 1
